Edward H. Rosen Hillel Center Tops Off

On March 25th, Hillel at Temple University celebrated the next milestone in the creation of the Edward H. Rosen Hillel Center for Jewish Life as the final steel beam was set into the building's framework. This occasion marked the completion of the first phase of construction which also included the pouring of the foundation. Seemingly overnight, the steel framework emerged from the ground and enabled those in attendance to dream about the future home of Hillel at Temple University.

A number of distinguished guests joined together for the celebration including Ann Weaver Hart, President of Temple University, Edward H. Rosen, Building Chairman, Matan Silberstein, Hillel Student President, and Rabbi Howard Alpert, Executive Director, Hillel of Greater Philadelphia.

The morning began with greetings by Rabbi Alpert followed by a passionate toast delivered by Ed Rosen and remarks by President Hart. President Hart thanked everyone for their vision and acknowledged the significance of the new building to both the Jewish community and to Temple University. Following the speeches, guests were invited to sign the steel beam which was then draped by the Hillel banner and raised into place by a large crane.  The morning concluded with a short reception back at the current Hillel building. Student leaders, Hillel Board Members and University officials had the opportunity to schmooze and nosh while talking about their dreams for the future of Hillel at Temple University and the Edward H. Rosen Hillel Center for Jewish Life.
