Commission for Campus Projects: Jewish Innovation Grant

The Commission For Campus Projects is offering Jewish Innovation Grants for student-initiated projects that engage students in the experience of Jewish life and community or that educate student community about Israel.

For the 2011-2012 Academic Year, funding will be available at three levels:

a. Applications for grants of $150 or less will be considered twice a semester and will not require a personal conversation with members of the Commission. If needed, an expedited decision may be available;

b. Applications for grants of more than $150 but less than $500 will also be considered twice a semester and will require a phone conversation with members of the Commission;

c. Applications for grants of $500 or more will be considered once each semester and will require a personal presentation by a student organizer at a meeting of the Commission.

In making funding decisions, the Commission will favor projects that engage students who are generally not involved in Jewish life and that are welcoming to students beyond the applicants’ immediate circle. Applicants are encouraged to consider how social media may be used to broaden the population engaged by the initiative. Preference will also be given to funding initiatives that represent new ideas or innovative approaches to Jewish engagement. Previously funded initiatives that are being presented for their third successive iteration will not be considered.

The Commission suggests, although not requires, that prior to submission a Hillel campus professional be invited to review this application. This will help the applicants analyze their requests more thoroughly and carefully assess income and expenses. Historically, many applicants did not receive full funding due to mechanical errors that could be avoided through working with an outside party. Please give the professional ample time to review your application if you need assistance.
