Join Hillel at Temple University from March 8-15 as we help rebuild New Orleans this spring break! This one-week trip will focus on hands-on service, community interaction and the exploration of social justice and Judaism. Read on for more information about the trip and how to register! How do I sign up? Registration is open here. PLEASE READ the rest of this page before you proceed to registration. When is the trip? March 8-15
What can I expect on the trip? Participants spend their days doing volunteer work which may include, but is not limited to, installing siding on houses, drywalling, painting, roofing, cleaning, etc. in the areas affected by the hurricane. After working, participants will engage in small group discussion and programming that delve into the underlying issues that were brought about by the storm. Following a communal dinner, there are a myriad of activities including meeting with communal leaders and members of New Orleans' Jewish community. The experience also includes a tour of the areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and a restful and joyous Shabbat. What does it cost? The trip will cost approximately $500. This price includes transportation to and from New Orleans, accommodations and food for the duration of the trip. When you apply you will need to submit a $125 registration fee. We will be in touch shortly about transportation costs. Scholarships may be available upon request. I still have a question...
